Qatar may invest US$5b in Pengerang, Johor

Dr Hussain Ali Al-Abdulla said Qatar Holding is eyeing mainly petrochemical projects in Johor and its investments in the sector will exceed US$5 billion.
Qatar Holding LLC, a Middle East sovereign wealth fund which owns the Harrods Group, is looking to spend half of the US$10 billion it plans to invest in Malaysia in petrochemical projects in Pengerang, Johor.

Johor Legoland's Train that went off track



The Legoland Express that went off track last Thursday was captured on film by a Stomp reader, but he was told to snuff it out.The reader, who goes by the nickname GeneralStomp, was apparently told by staff at Legoland, Johor Bahru's newest attraction, to delete the pictures that he had taken of the derailed train.

Johor berada di tangga ketiga selepas Selangor dan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur apabila mencatatkan 52,946 transaksi hartanah melibatkan nilai keseluruhan kira-kira RM17.1 juta tahun lalu.

Iskandar Malaysia investments reached RM95.45bil

Iskandar gets RM10.7bil more investments during the first six month of this year.
JOHOR BARU: Iskandar Malaysia has managed to secure RM10.67bil in new committed investments during the first six month of this year.

Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) chief executive officer Datuk Ismail Ibrahim said since its inception in 2006 and until end-June this year, the total cumulative committed investments reached RM95.45bil in various sectors.

Asia's first Legoland to open on Sept 15 (40 PICS)


Legoland Malaysia general manager Siegfried Boerst said the RM700 million theme park on a 76-acre land in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor, was 75 per cent
complete.

He said that last month, the contractors began work on theming the park, and next month they would begin installing the 50 million Lego bricks and models.

Multi-billion ringgit MRT,LRT project links JB-Singapore


JOHOR BARU: The Federal Government is yet to make its final decision on the operator of the multi-billion ringgit intra-city commuter train (ICCT) service for Iskandar Malaysia.

Iskandar Regional Development Authority (Irda) chief executive officer Ismail Ibrahim said the project was still open to other companies that wanted to develop the rail network.

RM139bil investments in Johor, create 68,000 jobs (8 PICS)


JOHOR BARU: A total of 59 projects in the state is expected to bring in RM139.3bil in investments by 2020.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Friday that this would also create 68,000 job opportunities, which would contribute RM25.57bil to the country's Gross Domestic Products (GDP).

MMU Iskandar EduCity to offer cinematic arts degree




MULTIMEDIA University (MMU), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telekom Malay-sia Bhd, recently signed a consultancy agreement with the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) to offer a Bachelor's degree in cinematic arts at the new MMU campus in Iskandar EduCity.

  MMU chairman Datuk Dr Halim Shafie said the decision to offer the cinematic arts programme was made after an extensive study of the regional creative industry.

US Giant Group,Genting opened Johor Premium Outlets (JPO) (48 PHOTOS)


JOHOR BARU: Genting Plantations Bhd and US property giant Simon Property Group Inc last week opened the doors to Southeast Asia’s first premium outlet retail mall, Johor Premium Outlets (JPO), after working on the project for more than three years.

JPO is owned and operated by Genting Simon, a 50:50 joint venture between Genting Plantations unit Azzon Ltd and Simon Property Group’s outlet division, Premium Outlets.

Iskandar Malaysia attracts RM77.82bil cumulative investments (24 PHOTOS)


SINGAPORE: As of September this year, Iskandar Malaysia recorded a total cumulative committed investment of RM77.82 billion from various sectors.
Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) Chief Executive, Ismail Ibrahim said of this total, 60 per cent (RM46.63 billion) was domestic investments with the remaining 40 per cent (RM31.19 billion) coming from overseas.
