Malaysiakini - 'What is the point of asking this 'Apa Nama' to testify? He has selective memory and will probably not remember anything.'
Mahathir to be called to testify in Liong Sik trial
Swipenter: Dr Mahathir Mohamad is not going to testify against Ling Liong Sik. Both of them are partners in crime.
He won't, and he cannot, otherwise all hell would break loose where everything is exposed on how each and everyone (Umnoputra and BNputra) robs and plunders the taxpayers monies and the wealth of the country for themselves, their cronies, friends and family members.
It is going to be "You don't expose me, I don't expose you" not unlike "You help me, I help you" kind of thinking, and the implied latent threat against one another.
49boybum: Will the authorities have the guts to haul these past leaders under ISA or EO for betraying the trust of the people and for abusing power in contradiction to what they had sworn in front of the Agong before assuming their respective offices?
Also why is it for past corrupt leaders who are proven to have done wrong innocent until proven guilty whereas for the honest and righteous, it is 'guilty first and prove innocence later' under ISA or EO.
As a law-abiding and taxpaying citizen, I am appalled by these double standards by the people in authority.
Galpasqueen: This whole case is a big eyewash for the rakyat that the BN government does drag big figures to court.
However, no big guns will be prosecuted just like the jet engine case. Maybe here the PKFZ security guard might have to take the blame at the end of the day.
What's the point of calling the 'Top Most Wanted Crook' to testify because all he is going to say is "Saya dah tak ingat lagi"? What a waste of taxpayers money. They have all become very predictable.
AnakBangsaMalaysia: Oh really? Why bother calling him up? Mahathir remembers only what suits his own nefarious purposes. Everything else is the fault of the Jews, the Americans, the Chinese, the Indians, etc, ad nauseam.
Pity Him: He will have his day in court. Hopefully, his memory do not fail this time.
Muhyiddin first, Malay second, M'sian last
Hafidz Khalid: It was the Federated Malay States and Unfederated Malay States. That's history and how it all started. So the Malay must come first. The promise as I remembered it after May 13 was 'Malaysia yang terasnya Melayu'.
There are Chinese and Indians who cannot even speak the national language, including the MPs in Parliament. Malays were a people willing to compromise and share. Now they have been reduce to just being a race.
The solution is for every Malaysian is to be Malay of Malay descent; Malay of Chinese descent; Malay of Indian descent; Malay of other descent. So Malay is and will forever be first.
If you cannot accept this, then you are not patriotic and cannot accept history that this is Malay country. Syabas to PM and DPM.
I M Joshua: Hafidz, you remembered May 13, but what happened to Aug 31, 1957? Are you sure your scenario is what was then championed?
Plastic Rose: Over the years, Umno becomes bolder and bolder with racist comments and threats to win Malay support. This organisation does not favour Malaysia as a fair and just nation. The PM is only a puppet of Umno.
Reading the tea leaves on Ku Li and Anwar
Michael Angelo: What Tok Guru Nik Aziz Nik Mat and Karpal Singh said are appropriate. There is no substitute for DSAI (Anwar Ibrahim), especially for all the hard work and sacrifices he has endured.
Even if he is in jail, he should be given amnesty and allowed to be PM. His jailing, if it were to happen, is a conspiracy to deny him what is rightfully due to him.
Every Malaysian is entitled to be the PM of this country. So there is nothing wrong with having the ambition to be PM. Anwar has earned the right to be PM.
Ghkok: Yes there's a huge gulf between Ku Li's aristocratic demeanour (who, more than anything, represents the conservative and genteel 'old world') vs the demeanour of the tens of thousands of (mostly young) people who poured into the streets on Bersih's July 9 rally to participate in a show of defiance against the very world that, unfortunately, Ku Li's demeanour represents.
People like us rallied for a just cause, in the face of threats, arrests, tear gas, water cannons, Ibrahim Ali's Perkasa and Umno Youth's Patriots. We walked the talk.
And who walked with us? Anwar Ibrahim, Abdul Hadi Awang, Lim Kit Siang, Tony Pua, Mat Sabu, Mahfuz Omar, Salahudin Ayub, Tian Chua, Nurul Izzah, R Sivarasa... where was Ku Li?
ONG: If ever Pakatan even considers inviting Ku Li to be opposition leader, then that will be a final and ultimate proof that Pakatan has gone bankrupt and should just close shop.
The only way I can envisage Ku Li as opposition leader is when Pakatan becomes the government and BN becomes the opposition.
Even then, the scenario of Ku Li as leader of the Umno-BN opposition will be highly unrealistic considering that he could not get a seconder in his quest for the Umno presidency.
Kgen: Yes, the problem with Razaleigh Hamzah is that he does not want to move out of his comfort zone but wants things to be given to him on a platter. The chance of him becoming PM under Umno is dimmer than a tiny light bulb about to fail.
If he wants a chance of being PM under Pakatan Rakyat, then come out of Umno now and help the opposition secure Putrajaya. Join in the struggle and be prepared to be cut and bruised along the way.
Otherwise, just stay in Umno and continue dreaming. When Pakatan has kicked out BN after a hard struggle, the premiership is not for you to waltz in and take.
