KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer Anuar Zain will testify on Aug 23 in the suit relating to his royalty claims against recording company Synchrosound Records Label Music Sdn Bhd.
Senior assistant registrar Nurul Nadzia Abdul Aziz set the date in chambers here yesterday after meeting lawyer Aizul Rohan Anuar, who represented the singer, and counsel Max Yong for Synchrosound.
Aizul said Anuar will give his evidence if the parties failed to reach a settlement over damages.
“The lawyer for the recording company has proposed to settle over the damages but I have to get confirmation from my client,” he said.
He said the court had asked the parties to resolve the issue of damages by Aug 16 or the trial would proceed to ascertain damages.
On May 14 last year, the High Court ordered Synchrosound to pay the award-winning singer royalties from the sale of his album with costs and interest.
