Malaysia Airlines reveals A380 details for London route‎ (VIDEO | 11 PICS)

Malaysia Airlines has revealed the design and specifications of its new flagship A380-800, which will be used on the Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur route.

The aircraft, which will enter service three times a week on 1 July, is the first of two which will be operated on the route. Another will be introduced at the end of August this year, with a third to be used on Kuala Lumpur to Sydney flights. The new Airbus displays MAS’s new livery with a more contemporary look.

Inside, the A380 has 494 seats in a three-class configuration with eight first class seats and 350 seats in economy class on the first deck. On the upper deck the aircraft will have 66 business class seats and 70 economy class places.

“We are the first to introduce the A380 into service using a uniquely refreshed look and feel, instead of the regular corporate identity, to showcase our latest premium offering in products and services. This will be our flagship aircraft to launch our exciting new levels of comfort, luxury and convenience in long haul travel,” said Encik Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, CEO of MAS.

On the new aircraft, each seat will have a Thales entertainment system with USB ports and satellite telephone function. MAS’s ‘Chef-on-Call’ service will be extended to business class as well as first class with Malaysian, international and healthier-concept meals.

“The investment in this latest aircraft, its technology, futuristic style and innovative design in cabin comfort are our initiatives to ensure that our passengers continue to experience an exciting new level of comfort, luxury and convenience,” added Ahmad Jauhari. “This is the identity that will move us from traditional classic to premium contemporary in our efforts to position Malaysia Airlines as a preferred premium carrier”.
