Freedom Of Speech Not A Licence To Defame: Raja Ahmad‎

IPOH - Bloggers should be responsible for the reports and postings in their blogs or portals because the freedom of speech or expression is not a licence to defame others, said chairman of the Perak Umno New Media Secretariat, Datuk Seri Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar.


He said articles posted in their blogs, including reports by journalists, should be based on facts.

"Otherwise, it can create negative perception, including confuse readers," he told Bernama here today.

Raja Ahmad, who is Kubu Gajah Assemblyman said readers, too, should also not believe or be easily influenced by everything they read in the blogs and portals.

Raja Ahmad, who is a former journalist and now an active blogger, said this in response to the case of a blogger, Amizudin Ahmat, who had been ordered by the court to pay damages of RM300,000 to Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim for defaming the minister.
