Chong Wei beats Kashyap to qualify for semis


LONDON: Lee Chong Wei has booked his place in the semi-finals of the men's singles badminton competition in the London Olympics.

The Malaysian ace beat India’s Kashyap Parupalli 21-19, 21-11 in 44 minutes at the Wembley Arena early Friday morning.

Kashyap put up a strong fight in the first set that stretched to 27 minutes but Chong Wei was in full control of the second set and sealed victory in just 17 minutes.

Chong Wei will now square off against China's Chen Long in the last four.

Chen Long beat Denmark's Peter Gade 21-16, 21-13 in another quarter-final match.
