Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin today called on the Selangor government to issue a clarification over the raid mounted by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (JAIS) on the Damansara Utama Methodist last Wednesday.
He said the state government's move to keep mum on the issue, which appeared irresponsible, would create uneasiness among the people.
"We call on the state government not to hide behind JAIS...please issue a clarification so that we can understand what's going on because this is a sensitive issue.
"The Muslims are not happy because it allegedly involved proselytisation activities, while the non-Muslims, especially the Christians, are not happy because their church was being raid without proof," he said after opening Ramadan Bazaar and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign at the Seri Alam People Housing Project (PPR) here Monday.
Meanwhile, Khairy also refuted Pas President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang's allegation that Barisan Nasional was trying to raise the issue to divert public attention on the demand for fair and clean elections.
