IPOH (Aug 15, 2011): Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said today he was not afraid to disclose the state's expenditure on his overseas trips.
"I know that I did not waste any government money because they were all important official trips. I did not use the money for holidays. If I had, that would be wrong," he told reporters after a meeting of the state legislative assembly, here.
He said he received many invitations for lectures and conferences overseas such as to China and Europe but never attended them because each trip was vetted carefully by the government.
Dr Zambry was commenting on a written question on the matter during the session by Pasir Panjang assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.
Speaker Datuk R. Ganesan had earlier explained to Mohammad Nizar that the government would give him a written answer to his question.
Speaking to reporters after the sitting, Mohammad Nizar expressed dissatisfaction on not getting an answer during the session and alleged that Dr Zambry was afraid to disclose the figures.
Dr Zambry clarified that today's sitting was not extraordinary and was part of the required session every six months.
Ganesan said: "We planned to have a two-day session but finished in one day as there were no urgent matters or bills to be debated and passed." – Bernama
