England and Chelsea captain John Terry told the BBC's Dan Roan he is saddened Premier League and international matches have been cancelled as a result of "devastating" riots this week.
Terry also says high-profile football players can still relate to working-class youngsters despite their difference in wealth.
The 30-year-old adds that new Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has placed a strong emphasis on training, ahead of Sunday's season-opener at Stoke.
