Proposed highway to ease congestion in Ampang


The proposed Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) will ease the congestion in Ampang.

The three-lane dual carriage expressway will serve as an alternative route to Sg Besi, Cheras, Ampang and Ulu Kelang.

Beginning in Sri Petaling, the 31.8km expressway will pass through Sg Besi, Alam Damai, Cheras-Kajang, Taman Bukit Permai, Taman Putra, Taman Permai Jaya, Taman Dagang Permai, Ampang, Taman Hillview before ending in Ulu Kelang.

It will be linked to the Middle Ring Road 2, Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway, Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway, Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road, Sg Besi extension, KL-Seremban Highway, Cheras-Kajang Highway, Besraya, Kesas and Jalan Ampang.

The highway is expected to cut travelling time from 75 minutes to 25minutes from Cheras to Ulu Kelang.

SUKE will also serve as an alternative to MRR2 and Pandan Indah in Ampang.

Once completed, the expressway will reduce traffic on the MRR2 by 24% and Jalan Ampang by 36%.

Public display of the proposed highway will be at Carrefour Ampang from Feb 18 to 24 (10am to 7pm) and Menara MPAJ lobby level 4 from Feb 15 to 22 (8.30am to 5pm).

A public talk will also be held on Feb 18 at Auditorium, Level 5, Menara MPAJ from 10am to noon.

Ampang Municipal Council president Datuk Mohammad Yacob encouraged the public to give their feedback during the display period.
