Cheers Rawang's residents, now have a mall to shop in

Expansive: The two-storey mall has 107 tenants to-date
RAWANG residents will no longer need to travel far to shop as they now have a shopping centre — Aeon Rawang — catering to their daily needs.

At its opening recently, Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the mall would not only be serving the over 700,000 residents in the area but also transforming Rawang into a more developed township.

“Before this, residents had to travel to Kuala Lumpur or Petaling Jaya to shop but they no longer need to do that with this shopping centre built here,” he added.

Khalid also said Selayang Municipal Council president Datuk Zainal Abidin A’ala and himself had been studying the structure plan for the area where developments were being proposed alongside other public amenities such as proper road and transportation.

“With facilities such as schools and shopping centres available, Rawang town will definitely be in demand among people who intend to move to Selangor,” he said, adding that Selangor received about 200,000 new residents every year who migrated from other states.

He later took a tour around the two-storey mall which has 107 tenants to-date, including its very own in-house brand, Jusco.

According to Aeon managing director Nur Qamarina Chew, the mall was the company’s 24th outlet in Malaysia and had been receiving overwhelming support from the residents.

“Aeon Rawang is a shopping centre for the community and we hope the residents will treat the mall as a part of their neighbourhood.

“The mall is able to fulfil their needs whether it is to purchase daily necessities or as a place to chill out and relax during their free time,” she said.

The 519,670sq ft building near Kota Emerald has 1,480 parking bays for the convenience of shoppers.

To commemorate the opening of the store, Aeon Co (M) Bhd donated RM10,000 each to three homes from Rawang; the Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Saradha Devi Illam Rawang, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya Kirtash through its charity arm, ‘With All Our Hearts’ Malaysia Aeon Foundation.
