Muhyiddin to launch Merdeka forum, carnival in London

DEPUTY Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin arrived here yesterday for a three-day working visit, which will also see him joining students and Malaysians living here at a Merdeka carnival cum Hari Raya celebration.
Muhyiddin, who was accompanied by his wife Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman, touched down at London's Heathrow Airport at 5.50am.


He will start his official visit today by visiting the University of the Arts London in the morning followed by Friday prayers at the Malaysian High Commission at Belgrave Square.

After that Muhyiddin, who is also education minister, will launch the "Merdeka forum: 54 Years of Merdeka: Building a Nation, Sharing a Destiny".


The forum, to be held at the Hyatt Regency here, will see Professor Datuk Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Datuk Mahani Zainal Abidin from the Institute of Strategic and International Studies speaking on the topic.

Malaysian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Datuk Zakaria Sulong will moderate the forum.

Muhyiddin and his wife will also be joining guests at the annual Merdeka carnival cum Hari Raya celebration tomorrow.
