Eight minutes of terror

KLANG: A man ran amok at Taman Bayu Perdana, smashing cars, slashing a man entering his house with a parang and and striking an entire family in fear by brandishing a parang last night.

His bizarre behaviour was caught on camera at the family house in Jalan Batu Unjur 4.

The incident unfolded when the man, on a motorcycle, entered the residential area at 10pm. He was spotted swinging his weapon and smashing a car windscreen along his way before speeding along the streets of Jalan Batu Unjur 2.
Along the way he slashed a Myanmarese worker who just returned from work and was about to enter his house.

"Luckily the foreign worker avoided the parang's full force and he was slightly injured on his forehead," said a security guard on duty in the residential area.
The man continued his destructive journey towards Jalan Batu Unjur 4 before stopping in front of the family house.
"My gate was open as our maid was washing my two cars while my kids and wife were watching television in the living room," said the resident who only wanted to be known as Lee.
Lee who was on the balcony spotted the man - wearing a black jacket and helmet with a visor, holding a parang when he stopped in front of the house.
"I told my maid to hide behind the car, and signalled my wife to lock the main door and the sliding door," he said when met at his home last night.
The man then got off his motorcycle and eight minutes of terror unfolded for the family as the man displayed a dangerous behaviour.
Lee said the man got off his bike and screamed in Tamil: "Why mother, why mother" repeatedly.
"At this point I took a stick from the balcony and went down to confront him. I thought he came to rob us, but when I went down he was swinging a parang."
The man than swung his parang and smashed Lee's car.
"That's when I realised he did not came to rob us but maybe scare or hurt us," he said.
Lee shouted at the man to stop smashing his car.
"I told him if you want money, I can give but stop smashing the cars. He heard me and walked towards the main door and raised his helmet's visor as if he wanted me to see his face."
He then slapped his hands on the sliding door and walks out.
By this time Lee contacted the police and security guards.
The man walked back to his motorcycle when a security guard and another two police officers showed up.
He than sped off on his motorcycle pursued by the two officers and the guard.
About 20 minutes later the police officers and the security guard came back to Lee's house.
"The officer told me that they were unable to catch the intruder, as he sped off after swinging the parang at them."
Lee was told that the man did a couple of stunts on his motorcycle before speeding off beating several traffic lights in avoiding police as he took the exit to Port Klang."
Lee said in the 11 years he stayed here nothing like this happened before.
"Maybe he was high on drugs as his behaviour suggested."
